Frequently Asked Questions
What is the process for new clients?
Once you enquire or request an appointment, you will be sent an intake form to gather important background information, therapy goals, and any preferences that support your comfort and safety. Your information is then reviewed to ensure the service is appropriate for your needs. If aligned with my scope, you will be offered an appointment. If not, I will provide referral options to more suitable supports. All consent forms must be completed prior to your first session.
What can I expect in my first appointment?
Your first 50-minute session focuses on understanding your concerns, history, and goals for therapy. We work together to explore what brings you in, what matters to you, and how therapy can best support you. You are welcome to ask questions at any time.
Do I need a referral?
No, you do not need a referral to see a psychologist privately.
However, to access Medicare rebates, you will need either:
• A Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) – up to 10 rebates per calendar year
• An Eating Disorder Management Plan (EDMP) – up to 40 psychology rebates per year
How do Medicare rebates work?
With a valid MHTP, you may receive rebates for up to 10 psychology sessions per calendar year.
With a valid EDMP, you may receive rebates for up to 40 psychology sessions per year.
Rebates are processed immediately after your session.
Do you accept private health insurance?
Yes. Many private health insurers offer rebates for psychology services.
Please check with your insurer to confirm your eligibility.
Invoices can be submitted directly to your fund.
